Huye Welcomes the Maraba Coffee Exhibition Center and Roastery

A new milestone has been achieved in Huye District with the official inauguration of the Maraba Coffee Exhibition Center and Roastery, a facility expected to strengthen Rwanda's specialty coffee value chain while promoting local coffee, tourism, and market opportunities.

The inauguration, held on 19 June 2026 in Maraba Sector, brought together representatives from government institutions, the private sector, development partners, coffee cooperatives, and other stakeholders to celebrate this important achievement and discuss the future of Rwanda's coffee industry.

The Maraba Coffee Exhibition Center and Roastery was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Huye District, Ange Sebutege, together with representatives of the Abahuzamugambi Coffee Cooperative. The establishment of the center reflects the vital role that coffee cooperatives continue to play in improving coffee quality, increasing production, adding value to coffee products, and enhancing the livelihoods of coffee farmers.

During the event, speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships, expanding access to regional and international markets, and investing in value addition to ensure the sustainable growth of Rwanda's coffee sector. Representatives of coffee cooperatives also highlighted the need for continued collaboration to unlock new opportunities for producers and increase the global competitiveness of Rwandan specialty coffee.

The Maraba Coffee Exhibition Center and Roastery is expected to serve as a hub for coffee promotion, processing, training, and learning. By showcasing the unique quality and heritage of Maraba coffee, the center will contribute to local economic development, support coffee tourism, and further position Huye District as a leading destination for Rwanda's world-renowned specialty coffee.
